Almondbury Liberal Club.

Almondbury Liberal Club and Bowling green is set in the middle of Almondbury, a busy and Historic Village approximately 2 miles outside of Huddersfield town centre.

The club was formed in 1896 on its present site. Alterations were made in 1912 to include living accommodation.

The club consists of a concert room, which has just had a complete re-furbishment , an attractive lounge, and a game’s room with a pool table , darts etc. Outside is a good sized car park. The living accommodation no longer exists.

The club is well supported , with a membership approaching 500.

The club has the advantage of a quality bowling green which was established in 1893. It has held the Yorkshire Merit( a top Yorkshire Competition) in 1997 , 1998,,1999 and 2017. The club also provided the winner of the competition in 1977, Tony Young.

The club , at the moment, has a band on once a month , on a Sunday afternoon. This is proving very successful, and well supported to such an extent the bands are booked for the rest of the year. Non -members are welcome, so if you fancy a good Sunday afternoons entertainment go on the clubs Facebook to find out the full details.

At the moment, Saturday’s are taken up with various functions, some of which have live entertainment.

The club is well maintained and worth a visit, with good views over the bowling green.
