UK COMEDY
This time around on the comedy front we take a look at some of the stories concerning this vibrant sector.

DODDY REMEMBERED
The famous and iconic City Varieties Musical Hall in Leeds is to re-name its beautiful theatre space, The Sir Ken Dodd Auditorium. Doddy appeared at the venue probably more times than any other comedian and his widow Anne, Lady Dodd is the patron of the theatre and its charitable organisation.
HYPNOTICALLY TOURING
Comedy hypnotist Grant Saunders is currently engaged in a national tour, with some larger venues being added to his ports of call. Grant is a rising star in this field and there will be a review of his current touring show in a future magazine issue.
BETTY IN PARADISE
Blackpool comedy drag queen legend Betty ‘Legs’ Diamond is set to perform in summer season at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Paradise Room is to be the venue for Betty and her show, after the star moved on from the iconic Funnygirls venue in Blackpool recently.
LEE IN PANTOLAND
Comedian and Peter Kay tribute Lee Lard is set to appear in his debut pantomime this coming panto season. We hope to include details of Lee’s new venture in a future issue of our UK Panto feature.
LEYE COMPLETES 30-YEAR STRETCH
Blackpool comedy legend Leye D Johns is celebrating three decades of entertaining holiday makers this year. A huge party to honour the star and his comedy milestone at the Viva Cabaret Theatre in Blackpool. UK Cabaret will be represented at this swell party and we will be including a review of the event in our August magazine issue.
GLEE FOR ALL
Five sites operated by the relatively new Glee Club chain have taken over from former operators and are presenting great stand-up comedy. The sites are in Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, Nottingham and Oxford.
