UK Cabaret Breaking News- March 16th 2020 at 7pm.

In view of today’s announcement, in which the Prime Minister gave advice on people gathering in pubs, clubs, theatres and restaurants, we would like to make a public statement.

Thus far there has been no legal obligation for operators, owners and venue managers to close their venues. Many professional entertainers have declared their individual and collective intent, on social media, to continue to present themselves at gigs and shows until they are told their work is to be completely prohibited by law, during an as yet unspecified period of time.

This is a fast-moving and unpredictable situation, which threatens all our livelihoods in the so-called ‘gig economy’.

It is my intention as publisher of UK Cabaret to do my utmost to remain within the information loop. We want our many subscribers, download customers and advertisers to know we would value your feedback and e mails about your personal situation, which may well inform and help your fellow professional entertainers, agents and suppliers.

Best of luck to everyone. It looks as though we will need every shred of good fortune we can muster during the foreseeable future.

As things stand it is our intention to publish next month again as usual. Our March magazine issue was distributed this very day. As I mentioned earlier this is a developing crisis and in the event of there being no light entertainment to cover, this unprecedented situation may force us to reconsider our overall business response.

I will update our subscribers on a regular basis here on our high-traffic web-site.
