Martin McGuire’s Tour de Yorkshire

Beeston Royal British Legion- I caught the act of a great comic and Compere, who works regularly in Benidorm. His name- Justin Sane. On the same bill was Marc Bolton, who is a great vocal comedian and comedy impressionist and singer Vicki Rossini, who has a fantastic voice.

South Kirkby Royal British Legion- Singer Trevor Craig has been absent from the club scene for almost two years, but is working so well that it is as if he has never been away. On another evening recently at South Kirkby Legion, I saw Pontefract singer Ellie Gent. I believe Ellie should seriously consider performing stand-up comedy.

Moorthorpe Empire club- I saw Kevin Curtin, who is a super soul and Motown singer from Dewsbury. On another evening at The Empire I saw The Mighty Roadhouse, who are Yorkshire’s premier soft-rock duo. On another gig night at The Empire, I saw Durham based three-piece band London Calling. These guys have just returned from a very big and important gig in Barcelona.

Hemsworth West-End wmc- Wakefield-based singer Amy Thomas gave a very classy performance at this club recently. Lloyds country music club also meets regularly at the West-End club. On the night of my visit I saw husband and wife act Baton Rouge, who had travelled from Hartlepool and were very good.

Morley wmc- At this regular Wednesday evening venue, singer Bonnie gave a great show. Originally from Albania, this C&IU award-winner was very good indeed. At Morley wmc, on another evening, I saw solo singer Ashton. From this entertainer, there is always a hundred miles an hour party music guaranteed.

Ashfield House sheltered housing complex, Hemsworth- Singer and entertainer Steve Andrews oozes charm and wit, as he entertained the senior citizens.

Crofton wmc, Wakefield- ZTV are a husband and wife 80’s music act. The male half of the act John Mycroft is also a very good Cliff Richard tribute singer.

Barnsley Central club- In this recently refurbished club, I saw and enjoyed the outstanding Bradford singer John Fitzpatrick.

Grimethorpe wmc, Barnsley- If it is an 80’s tribute show you are interested in, Ivor and Kirsty of Echo Beach have it all!

Carcroft Village club, Doncaster- young singer Brad Pepper gave one of the best versions of Nessun Dorma I have ever heard.
