ENSA MEMORIAL APPEAL

An appeal has been set up to honour those men and women of the show business profession who did so much to boost moral during World War 2 both at home and on the front line as part of ENSA, Stars in Battledress, RAF Gang Shows and similar organisations.

The memorial will be sited at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas near Lichfield, and it is hoped to have it unveiled in 2025 the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT is – To uphold and remember those of the show-business industry who gave so much to boost morale during World War 2 both at home and on the front line.To reinforce their contribution to the war effort through a lasting memorial along with presentations and educational programmes for schools, organisations and the general public. Thus creating a legacy to both present and future generations!

The memorial will be to honour all those from the industry in particular the jobbing actors, unknown performers, everyday musicians as well as the star names of the period.To achieve our aims we need the support of everyone we can especially those connected to the business.  Whether it be a donation in memory of a past performer, the offer to do a show/concert, a donation in your own name / organisation or venue.
Donations can be made via https://www.jumblebee.co.uk/ensamemorialappeal and all names of donors will appear in a commemorative book about the appeal published after the unveiling.
