A return to an iconic showcase venue for many of the main booker’s and agents in the UK, in an ‘invitation only’ atmosphere, as opposed to a boozy free for all. This is the key showcase in the national calendar and Compere Lee Lard was soon out on stage with the good-natured barbed comedy insults. ‘Comedy is cruel- get used to it’, is Lee’s mantra, but anyone who takes him seriously really is missing the point of his disarming humour.
